45 countries, and reminders at half past

Her mother is in Pune. She's in New Jersey. Nine and a half hours apart, and until this week the half hour was the problem.

What changed

Vini's clock now runs every half hour instead of every hour. Two things follow from that.

First, reminders can land at half past. A 5:30 PM tablet gets a 5:30 PM reminder, not a 5:00 one. This is true everywhere, not only in half-hour time zones.

Second, we could open up the time zones that sit on a half hour, which is how India and Sri Lanka joined the list. We also added the UAE, Bangladesh, Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia, the Philippines, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Japan, South Korea and New Zealand on the way. Vini now supports the time zones of 45 countries, and reminders always arrive in your parent's own local time.

Why

Most of the families using HeyVini are spread across at least two countries. A parent in Pune with a daughter in New Jersey shouldn't have to do the arithmetic, and neither should Vini. She just needs to know where each person lives.

What it means for your family

Pick each person's country once, in setup or in their Care circle card. Everything after that, the morning hello, the pill at 11, the weekly summary, is in their time. The morning summary still comes once a day, at 8 AM local.
